Coming Full Circle

Emmanuel has wanted to be an artist since he was young, and his working on making that dream come true

It's neat to see when things come full circle, and recently we had the opportunity to see just that! A young man who grew up at Kuda Vana and is now in our Youth Transition Program had the opportunity to go back to Kuda Vana Children’s Home and give back while also learning skills that help prepare him for his future.

Emmanuel* has wanted to be an artist since he was very young, and is now a 22-year-old artist and aspiring film-maker in trade school.

So, when he heard we were hoping to make a new film highlighting Kuda Vana’s efforts around family reunification, adoption and foster care he raised his hand right away!

Emmanuel filmed for several days at Kuda Vana Children’s Home

Emmanuel was able to spend some time learning about professional camera equipment, basic interview skills and more from a Denver-based film maker, and then set out to capture his childhood home and friends on camera.

He experienced trial and error, broken equipment, and bad internet connections but in the end was able to help us create the following video!

Emmanuel was paid for his work, and says he enjoyed the learning experience. Your support helps provide tangible, educational experiences for young adults like this one through our Youth Transition Program: keep it coming and enjoy this short video!

*Emmanuel gave us permission to share his name and story
