FAMily Program

Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family

On average, 80% of children in residential care across the globe have family that could care for them if given the right support.

While this is not true for every child in Kuda Vana’s care, it is a truth that every Children’s Home must grapple with and strive to become part of the solution and not the problem. Being in a safe family is always better for a child and is God’s best protection plan for kids. This means that Kuda Vana:

  • Prioritizes safe family reunification when possible

    • Read a story of reunification here

  • Facilitates domestic adoption and foster care when reunification is not possible

    • Read a recent story of adoption here

  • Provides the best possible environment for children to not just survive, but thrive in our Children’s Home

There are many common misconceptions and myths regarding orphans, orphan care and adoption. Please read more about these on our FAQ page.

Kuda Vana is partnering with local churches, community members and organizations like 1 MILLIONHOME, Faith to Action, and Zimbabwe Without Orphans to transition from a model of traditional residential care to one that prioritizes family-based care whenever possible.

“If there’s a cause worth fighting for, it’s this: children belong in families.”
