Talent's Got Talent!
Talent is a strong and patient young woman who is part of the Kuda Vana family.
For many years, she was the oldest child in a child-headed home where she grew up raising her younger brother and taking care of her grandmother. Because she lived near Kuda Vana (known as Murwira at the time) she would spend a large part of her free time working and playing with the children there.
Kuda Vana paid for Talent’s high school fees and helped with other necessities. After she finished high school, Talent became a part of Kuda Vana’s Youth Transition Program, which provides housing, tuition support and income-generating opportunities to help young people grow into self-sufficient adults. Kuda Vana helped her find and attend a trade school where she began developing her skills in sewing.
With hard work and determination, Talent’s sewing skills have developed into quality work. As she often shares her gift of sewing with her Kuda Vana family, the inspiration for the beautiful bags now in Kuda Vana’s Store all began with using her gift to make a Bible case for a family member. Talent has worked on perfecting the bag over the years and is proud of the final product!
Kuda Vana is beyond proud of this talented girl who has developed a much needed skill in Zimbabwe and will be able to use it to support herself and also help her brothers and sisters at Kuda Vana. Talent says
“I am so happy to see the work of my hands in the hands of others.”
