MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Marketing and Communications Intern will develop a working knowledge of an international nonprofit program, specifically as it relates to fundraising and communicating with its supporters. Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the intern will assist in the creation of new marketing materials and content, spearhead new initiatives and generate ideas for expanding Kuda Vana’s influence in the community.
− Maintain and expand Kuda Vana’s social media presence.
− Design and create the organization’s first annual report.
− Draft content for print materials including e-newsletters, website, blogs, etc.
− Design and create new marketing materials.
− Recommend and implement updates to website content and Google AdGrants and SEO.
− Update nonprofit profile / status on platforms such as Charity Navigator, Guidestar, etc.
HOURS AND LOCATION: The intern must commit to 10 hours per week for 6 months, with a flexible weekly schedule. Work from home or at the Posner Center for International Collaboration. Must commit to weekly in-person or teleconference meetings with the Director of Development.
BENEFITS / COMPENSATION:This position is unpaid. However, there are many tangible benefits:
− Opportunity to develop portfolio pieces and skills gained in communications, including social media, website, printed materials, and assisting in planning communications strategy.
− Ability to network with and work alongside staff and volunteers representing over 65 additional non-profit organizations housed at the Posner Center for International Development; and
− Potential for course credit.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate is an undergraduate, graduate or recent alumni with a background or interest in the nonprofit field.
− Major in Communications, Journalism or Marketing OR demonstrated experience
− Demonstrated ability in graphic design
− Outstanding written and oral communication skills; ability to proofread
− Self-starter with the ability to work independently
− Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel, PowerPoint. Square Space and InDesign a plus!
